Chickweed is a wild edible & medicinal "weed" that grows most places.

In early spring, you'll find chickweed growing in patches.

This perennial plant has small leaves & a tiny, white, 5 petaled flower shaped like a star.

If the stem has one single line of hairs, it's 100% chickweed.

Chickweed has 1 toxic look-alike: Scarlet Pimpernel.  While its flowers look nothing like chickweed, it's leaves could be mistaken for chickweed when not in bloom

Chickweed is one the best wild edible plants! I love using chickweed raw in salads or sautéed in butter.

Chickweed is also medicinal & when used topically in an herbal salve, it can help relieve itching.
